Grand Prix 2017


Piotr Alexewicz was born in 2000 and he is a young polish pianist. His first teacher was Małgorzata Borkowska, under her supervision he graduated with a distinction from Grażyna Becewicz Elementary School of Music in Wroclaw in 2013. Nowadays he continues his musical education in The Karol Szymanowski High School of Music in Wroclaw under the supervision of prof. Paweł Zawadzki.
Since the youngest years he has been taking part in international and national piano competitions and he has received a lot of prizes. In 2010 and 2011 Piotr Alexewicz got the 1st prize and the special prize for the bet interpretation of the contemporary piece of music at 10th and 11th International Piano Competition in Goerlitz (Germany). His next success was the 2nd prize at 11th International Piano Festival in Glubczyce (Poland). In 2013 the artist received the 1st prize once more at 12th Interational Piano Competition in Goerlitz (Germany) and the 1st prize at 12th International Piano Festival in Glubczyce (Poland). The same year he got the title of the laureate at International Fryderyk Chopin Festival in Sochaczew (Poland). In 2014 Alexewicz received the 3rd prize at 3rd International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Reszów. In 2015 basing on the preliminary round, Piotr Alexewicz was qualified to the prestigious 3rd Interational Piano Competition in Aarhus in Denmark. The jury admitted 20 pianists from 158 from 44 different countries to take part at the competiton. Polish pianist got to the final and landed in the elite circle of pianists from as prestigious music schools, universities and conservatories as: Sydney Distance Education High School, Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music (Toronto), Royal Academy of Music (London), Central Music School of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory (Moscow), Universität Mozarteum (Salzburg). In 2015 Piotr Alexewicz received the 1st prize and European Piano Teachers Association Special Prize at 8th National Piano Competition in Cracow. In November 2015 he was invited to perform F. Chopin Piano Concerto no. 2 op. 21 with National Forum of Music Symphony Orchestra in Wroclaw, under the baton of Benjamin Shwartz during the anniversaries of the Wrocław Polytechnic and the National Forum of Music Symphony Orchestra. In 2016 Alexewicz got the 1st prize at 5th International Piano Competition in Augustow (Poland) and the 2nd prize at 23rd Jeunesses International Music Competition Dinu Lipatti in Bucharest (Romania). In September 2016 Piotr Alexewicz took part in the International Mendelssohn Academy in Leipzig. He had a privilege to work with prof. Pavel Gililov.
